Once there lived a pony named Victoria. She was the most beautiful pony in Ponyland. Ponyland was a beautiful place where only ponies lived and there were no humans. The Pony race would happen every now and then. Victoria would always be the Champion and everyone praises her as she wins all the races in Ponyland.
Victoria’s parents died when she was 6 years old. After that her Aunt Melody takes care of her. One evening, when Melody and Victoria were sleeping in a deep slumber, the doorbell rang.
Ting TingTing Ting…
Post Pony (A Pony who delivers letters, just like a Postman) shouted- Hello..Is anyone home? There is a letter for Victoria from the Mayor.
Victoria: Coming Post Pony..
Post Pony: Here’s a letter for a pony named Victoria. Is that you.?
Victoria: Yes I am Victoria..
Post Pony:Here’s a letter from the mayor
Victoria:What is it about?
Post Pony: I heard Mayor Sophie saying something about a big race event.
Victoria:Okay thank you
Victoria wokeMelody up
Victoria:Wake up aunt
Melody:Oh Victoria what is it?
Victoria: There is a letter from the Mayor.
Melody: Oh our Honourable Mayor Sophie?
Victoria: Yes! You have to get up now.
Dear Victoria,
I have written this letter to inform you about the race taking place in Ponyland after 2 weeks. Other ponies from all neighbouring towns will participate too.
Please begin to prepare & practice. You are our Champion!

Melody: Wow! There is another race and you must win.
Victoria: Yes! So, I better go to Coach Poppy for training starting tomorrow.
Melody: Okay then you please sleep early and start your training tomorrow.
The next morning the alarm went. Tring…..
Victoria: It’s time to get up. Could you please make me some breakfast Aunt Melody?
Melody: Sure, I’ll give you something healthy. Let me make you eggs.
Victoria: OK but please do it quickly. I don’t want to get late on my 1st day of Training.
After finishing her breakfast, Victoria left home for training.
Ok Aunt.. I will see you in the evening.. Bye!
Melody: All the best Victoria.. Give it all you got!
The training had almost started..
Coach Poppy: So, ponies first of all. Tell me your names..
There were 7ponies- Lilly, Alfie, Victoria, Lucy, Millie,Jack and Jimmy.
Coach Poppy: Welcome to the Training.
Alfie: Oh God Victoria! She won the last race. I was one of the competitors last year as well and I know that she runs very fast.
Lily: Yes, I have heard about her too.
Coach Poppy: Alright then let’s start with a quote- ‘Winners never quit, and quitters never win!’.
So, Ponies, if you have to win- you have to work hard, be strong, powerful and most importantly run fast. So, any questions?
Everyone had questions except Victoria and Jack.
Coach Poppy: The 1st race will begin on Wednesday. Today, you should work on your fitness and then you can go home.
Victoria- Thanks Coach!
After practice, Victoria went home and shared about her day with Aunt Melody.
Melody: Great now eat your supper and then rest for a while.
This routine went on for 2 days until it was Wednesday- the 1st practice race day.
Coach Poppy: Ok then all the ponies- Get ready… Get set go!!
The race had begun, and Jack was in the lead. He looked behind and started looking for Victoria, but she was nowhere to be found. Then, as soon as he looked ahead he was surprised- what is this? He noticed that it was Victoria who was winning the race.
And Victoria won!
Coach Poppy: Wow it’s Victoria.. You won the race!
Jack: I had almost won but she is fast. I must defeat her before it gets too late.
After Victoria won, Jack became very upset and started talking very rudely to Victoria.
Coach Poppy: Now, the next race will take place on Friday. Then, there would be 2 more races, before the final competition.
Jack (whispering to Jimmy): Friend, I got an idea! Let’s try and stop Victoria from participating in the race.
Jimmy: That’s a great idea! And then you will win the race and get the trophy. But how are we going to do it?
Jack: Exactly! Now, listen to the plan.
In the coming race, you surround Victoria from one side, and I will be on the other side, with Victoria in the centre. Then, we will run into her from both the sides so that her leg is hurt, and she will lose.
Jimmy: Won. Sounds like a plan!
Everyone went home on that day.
Here came Friday, the next race!
Coach Poppy: All the best to you all.. Are you ready for the race?
Ready..? Get set go..!!
Jack & Jimmy went as per the plan. But, while they were trying to hurt Victoria, she turned out to be strong and in the process, Jimmy fell down and got hurt.
Jack: Victoria, how dare you hurt my friend?
Victoria: I didn’t do anything. It was you and Jimmy who were trying to hurt me.
Listening to this, Jack got very angry and pushed Victoria against the wall. This injured Victoria. She had to be immediately taken to the Hospital.
Coach Poppy was very sad and addressed the ponies: In the race, Jimmy & Victoria have been injured and have been sent to the Hospital. Both seem to be really hurt and may not be able to participate in the race.
When Melody got to know about the accident, she rushed to the Hospital.
Melody: Oh no.. What happened Victoria? How did you hurt yourself?
Victoria: Oh, Aunt it seems Jack & Jimmy didn’t want me to win the race and so I am here on the bed. Victoria started to sob.
Melody: This is terrible! Now, you should rest.
Victoria:: Yes Aunt.. I am in pain.
After a week, Victoria came back home-
Melody: Welcome home Victoria. I have a great news for you.
Do you know when the Mayor got to know about what happened at the Training, she delayed the race and banned Jack & Jimmy from participating in the race. Now you can participate in the race.
Victoria: Wow! Really? Is it true?
Melody: Yes it is Victoria and now you can participate in the race.
Victoria: I am not so sure Aunt.
Melody: You know how important this race is for you.. Come on Victoria. You can do it! Please don’t give up now. I know you are very upset with what Jack & Jimmy did the other day, but always remember there are no shortcuts to hard work & success. You should only focus on yourself & your training.
Victoria: Ok Aunt, I shall try.
Then Victoria started practicing.
Coach Poppy & Melody helped her in practicing for the big race. In 2 days, Victoria was feeling well prepared and fit again.
Finally, it was Monday- the big race day! It was time for Victoria to compete and do her best.
Mayor Sophie: All the best ponies.. Here we start..Ready..? Get..Set…Go…….
Victoria started off easy and slow.
The race started and the crowd began to scream out loud, with excitement.
Victoria was going slow that day- as she suddenly started feeling the pain in her foot. It seemed that she was a little scared.
Then, she took a deep breath and murmured to herself- “Victoria you can do this!”.
Slowly, she crossed past one pony, then another and another. She started to catch up the speed.. In no time, Victoria got in the lead and while her foot was still hurting, she decided to give it all she got.
And…there Victoria was the winner!
She left all the ponies behind..
After the race was over-
Mayor Sophie: Congratulations Victoria. You won. You are such a Champion.. Come up here and take your trophy. Would you like to say something?
Victoria: Thank You so much Mayor! I am very happy today and I want to thank everyone. Aunt Melody, if it wasn’t for your love & care I couldn’t have done this. You taught me not to give up. Coach Poppy, Thank You for always believing in me and of course Mayor Sophie for your encouragement and support.
I want to especially thank my friends who participated in this race. Last few days have been difficult for me because I had got hurt in my foot.
I want to say that- We cannot control other people’s behaviour or actions, but we can focus on ourselves and be responsible for our actions. I was really scared to run today but I decided to give it all I got. This has been the best race so far because it taught me an important lesson of life!
